First generation of the 1 Series: E87 (2004-2011)

The 1 Series is BMW's entry-level model car , it was originally produced as a hatchback, coupe and convertible and entered the market in 2004. However, since the second generation, the coupe and convertible models have been marketed as the 2 Series. BMW does not produce / therefore no longer markets this type of bodywork under the name “Series 1”. This new generation of the 1 Series has changed the shape of the bodywork: a 3-door hatchback version for the F21 model and a 5-hatchback version for the F20 model. Marketing begins in September 2011.

The F20 / F21 are fitted with three, four or six cylinder petrol engines and three or four cylinder diesel engines. All engines are turbocharged. In addition, the F20 / F21 is the first series 1 to offer an optional all-wheel drive (called “xDrive” by BMW), which can be found on new BMW 2020/2021 models such as the BMW X2 xDrive25e.
