Chevrolet leap forward with 2014 Impala

Another major unveiling at the New York International Auto Show is the next generation Chevrolet Impala. An important top-level sedan for Chevrolet, the “African antelope” badge fixture for the 2014 model year was augmented to the Epsilon II platform that has recently brought form to the Cadillac XTS production car. In New York, public eyes will be set on the latest iteration of the American automobile legend.

Perhaps the most inspired version of the Chevrolet Impala ever revealed, the 2014 model year four-door delivers an exterior design provoking a heightened dimension of what will be large family sedan ownership. Out is the dated ‘bread and butter’ sedan styling replaced with a more fluid form. “Our design team was challenged to create a new classic, but that didn’t mean relying on nostalgia,” said Chevy’s director of North America passenger car exterior design John Cafaro.

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala wears a longer front grille while the headlamps housing (available with HID lighting) features a more cutting-edge, sports sedan stare. Sporting contours flow along the side of the 2014 Impala, traveling back to a shortened truck lid surface. A highly detailed rear end maintains European-style taillights joined by an accenting chrome bar. An overall presentation speaking to a higher power of sophistication, the front-wheel-drive 2014 Chevrolet Impala will ride on standard 18-inch steel/aluminum rims with optional sizes up to 20 inches available on the new sedan.

The interior for the brand new Chevrolet Impala is a showcase of modern sports sedan ergonomics and design. Upfront, a dual-cockpit interior, similar to that previously integrated into the Corvette and Camaro cabin design, provides an encapsulating feeling of the front as well as control to the driver. While the actual size of the 2014 Impala’s interior is slighter larger than the 2012 counterpart, the fresher place and use of higher quality materials provide an enhanced comfort to the five passengers inside the sedan’s cabin. Chevrolet MyLink technology will be available on the 2014 Impala supplying the ultimate level of interior infotainment, including Internet radio and Bluetooth audio streaming.

Besides electronic entertainment, occupants are catered in the name of safety inside of the 2014 Impala with a range of standard or optional protection features. Improving on what should be stellar four-cylinder fuel efficiency from the 2.5-liter engine, a 2.4-liter version of the Ecotec powerplant will also be sold on the new Impala equipped with General Motors’ eAssist management. Ecotec-equipped models of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala will include various sound deadening features such as active noise-cancellation in order to enhance the cabin occupant’s riding experience.

For premium power from 303 horses (or impalas), the 2014 Chevrolet sedan’s 3.6 liter V-6 will be included. A creature of a new era of American motoring, the advanced V-6 engine for the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, produces the exact same horsepower as the 5.3 liter V-8 found on the predecessor vehicle’s SS model trim discontinued after 2009. All engines powering the 2014 Impala will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Chevrolet Impala nameplate first appeared in 1958, accompanied by a depiction of a leaping African antelope. In recent years, the Chevrolet Impala has been a possible victim of apathy from General Motors as dedication was placed into the 2014 reinvention of the vehicle.
