My appreciation of film art cannot be translated into the ability to choose good movies. Danielle and I often enjoy Netflix dates on weekends, but for some reason, I prefer the obscure choices in the streaming section. In most cases, they will not be winners.

By the way, I recently learned what “Netflix and Chill” means. I’m not up on the latest cultural lingo and found out the hard way after posting a status on Facebook one Saturday. I simply said Danielle and I were having a “Netflix and Chill” date, not knowing the fury ahead.

I thought it was cute . . . I know, I know. I can hear you laughing, it’s okay.

We no sooner started our movie and my phone began blowing up . . . apparently “Netflix and Chill” does not mean “watch a movie and relax.” My best friend of over a decade, Bryan, was the first to jump. If you knew Bryan and our long history as friends, you couldn’t fault him for the golden opportunity I offered up, on a silver platter, to razz me.

I Googled the phrase.

Yikes . . .

I’m also Facebook friends with many respected individuals, fellow automotive industry colleagues, and not to mention, Danielle’s family. It took four days for my friends to stop making fun of me but I don’t think I will ever live it down.

Good job Carl . . .

Recently, I watched Tommy Boy after a long day. It was the perfect ending to my busy day and to be honest, I had forgotten how funny it was. I had not seen it in years but was delighted when it showed up on Netflix. Chris Farley was a true talent and I remember him from his Saturday Night Live days; he and David Spade made such a dynamic team. You can’t help but laugh when the little kid on the beach yells out, “hey, Gilligan, did you eat the skipper” or Farley’s charming monologue on why he sucks at sales.

“That’s nice, you look like a Helen . . . “

It got me thinking about taking a road trip and seeing the United States. Our friends at Car Leasing Made Simple were doing the same thing and provided the wonderful graphic below. Here are 4 famous movie road trips you can take, starting this weekend. Grab your bag, your best friend, and hit the road on an adventure! Or if you would rather relax in the comfort of your own home, you can still take the adventure vicariously by watching one of these flicks. Just be careful what you post on Facebook before you hit play.

Have you taken a road trip? What road trip in a famous movie would you want to take?
